Who we are
BASF Construction Polymers GmbH, Trostberg, Germany, is a leading innovator and producer of construction and oilfield polymers. Its business is part of the Construction Chemicals, the Acrylics & Dispersions and the Performance Chemicals Division of BASF SE, Ludwigsahfen, Germany.
Competence in Construction ChemicalsThe start-up of this business enterprise began in 1966 when former SKW Trostberg AG invented a new class of polymeric dispersants based on melamine (Melment®). These modified melamine sulphonates disperse all kinds of cement and gypsum based products and contributed significantly to the progress of advanced high-performance construction materials. |

|
During the following decades our Melment® product range was continuously expanded to meet customer needs with tailor-made solutions.
Moreover, today our product portfolio is complemented by high-performance superplasticizers based on polycarboxylate ethers (Melflux® and Castament®) and naphthalene sulphonates (Melcret®).
In addition, we supply stabilizers, viscosifiers for very flowable and self-levelling dry-mortar floor applications as well as rheology modifiers (Starvis®) for vertical and sag-resistant applications that prevent bleeding and segregation.
Competence in Well Construction Applications The business sector dealing with additives for well bore construction is our second strong pillar besides construction polymers. It started in the 80s with the development of a temperature-stable additive for drilling fluids. |

Polydrill
® was launched in 1987 and soon proved its value at a drilling job near Houston, Texas. Today, Polydrill® is the "flagship" of our additives for drilling fluids.
Apart from drilling fluids we offer a complete range of additives for reliable casing cementing in oil and gas drilling applications.
Annually there are about 90,000 drilling jobs worldwide. Polymers "made by BASF Construction Polymers" are used for one in three of these jobs.
